Sandra Cisneros' House on Mango Street is a very short, choppy, and unfilling book about a young Hispanic girl named Esperanza. Cisneros writes highly detailed vignettes about Esperanza's life and her family.
Chapters varied greatly. Some chapters would be about family and others would be about hair or a carnival or jobs. House on Mango Street is a brief summary of a girl's journey to womanhood.
I didn't much like House but Cisneros' descriptive writing kept the book a quick and easy read.
