Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a satire-esque, allegoric, fable about the Russian Revolution. Orwell's dislike for totalitarianism isn't hidden in Animal Farm.

Orwell models the movers of the Russian Revolution as pigs. Napoleon, the aggressive, conceited pig, is modeled after Stalin, the slightly dim-witted, aggressor of the Revolution. Snowball, the gifted orator and careful politician, is Trotsky, who was exiled by Stalin and assassinated by his followers. The neighboring farmers are comparable to Churchill and Hitler.

The rest of Orwell's characters are citizens that unfortunately live under piggish rulers.

Animal Farm is an easy, and somewhat entertaining read, about a complicated part of world history.
